Tis' the Season for the Beanie!

photo

Beanie hats are ALL over the place lately! They are one of the biggest trends this season and everyone from men and women are making these cute hats a Fall staple! I personally love beanie hats. I think they add a cool factor to every outfit and add a bit of effortlessness to anything you wear. Not only that but they keep you warm which is obviously a plus lol. I wear my beanie hats practically every day! I purchased the beanies I wear on ASOS, Forever 21, and even from a street seller. Look trendy and keep warm at the same time with this cute accessory!

This past Sunday I attended the DunkXchange at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. It could have been described as a trade show or even a sneaker convention. Either way DXC was unlike anything I have ever been to before! There were so many people showcasing and selling all kinds of streetwear, many of which I had never heard of before. It was pretty dope to check out these brands that were so new to me and there were so many things I wanted to take home with me. The coolest thing about it was that you can actually bring your own sneakers with you and sell them at the exchange! So many people were walking around holding up sneakers and yelling prices and sizes trying to find a buyer. What made this whole event even better were the special live performances. A$AP Rocky and the A$AP Mob did a great performance and many other new and up-and-coming artists performed as well. I had a really great time at DXC! Hope you guys enjoyed the photos!

Can you believe I'm still stuffed from Thanksgiving?! haha I feel like I need to do a major cleanse. Anyway I purchased this sweater at the Melrose Trading Post for 8 bucks a few weeks ago while out in LA. I paired it with this cute pleated skirt and off I went to enjoy my long Thanksgiving weekend! Hope everyone had an awesome weekend! XOXO

Yesterday my sister and I attended the VIP blogger event at The Sewing Studio! Portia Makoma was kind enough to personally invite a few New York based bloggers to a private sewing lesson where we learned how to make a fashionable, cute clutch! I have been wanting to learn how to sew for so long and this gave me the opportunity to finally sit down and learn the basics of sewing. Portia made sure to have water, tea, and apple cider waiting for us and there were goodie bags at each of our sewing stations with our names on them. Charlene Washington was our instructor and led us through each step in learning how to sew our clutch. She did a wonderful job of guiding us through the process and made us feel confident we were doing a great job. I was a little uneasy at first since I'm not the best when it comes to DIY projects, but it was tons of fun nevertheless. We were all proud when our fun little project was completed and I am so happy I was able to be a part of this event! Sewing is a really great skill that everyone should learn. It comes in handy and can help you not only make but fix tons of different things! A big thanks to Portia, Charlene, and The Sewing Studio for having us! It was loads of fun and can't wait to do it again!

I couldn't forget about my lovely readers so I have a little giveaway I would like to share with you! One lucky reader will receive 50% off any class at The Sewing Studio and four lucky readers will win sewing class discounts! To enter you must you must follow me on Twitter and Instagram, and you must leave a comment below telling me what is the biggest reason why you would like to learn how to sew! Is it because you want to design and make your own clothes? Is it because you want to try your hand at a new skill? Let me know below and make sure to leave your email so I can contact you if you're a winner! Thanks for participating and hope you enjoyed the photos! xoxo

On Friday evening a few friends and I headed out to Brooklyn to check out the goods at the Ferris New York store event! I rarely EVER travel to Brooklyn but the fact that it was a Ferris event and there would be an open bar were definitely a good enough reason to make it out! I am so happy I did! The place was packed and the drinks were flowing! Even though there were a ton of people, I still got to check out all the awesome stuff they had at their spot. I wish I had better photos of all the sweaters and jackets but it was a little difficult to get really good pics with everything that was going on. I fell in love with all the artwork and all the one of a kind custom pieces! If you're looking for quality and originality, Ferris is the go-to place! Hope you enjoyed the photos!

Fun Trend: Baseball Caps/Snapbacks

photo

Baseball caps, fitted hats, and snapbacks have been spotted everywhere lately! Celebs like Rihanna and street style trendsetters are styling it in so many different ways. I love that women are adding their own unique flair to the trend by not only rocking a sporty look with a hat and sneakers but wearing them with heels and skirts/dresses for a more feminine approach. I recently borrowed my boyfriend's Ohio Against the World hat(OATW) and fell in love with it! I love the gold hardware on the front and love that it fits right in with the huge leather trend we have going on this season. I definitely plan on styling more of my outfits with this cute trend! Get your OATW hat here!

Yesterday my mother and I were lucky enough to attend the Next Generation Latina breakfast event at the Affinia Hotel in New York City! Latina Magazine and Mastercard joined together to honor ten inspiring, beautiful women for making their dreams a reality and giving back to their community in so many ways. Quiara Alegria Hudes opened up with an amazing speech that touched everyone in the room and it was the perfect introduction to the presentation of the awards. These ten remarkable Next Generation Latinas each received an award and a $500 gift card that was well deserved for all they have achieved. To be in a room full of women who have accomplished so much was so inspiring and it was such a perfect way to start off the week. I was also fortunate to be seated right next to Verky Arcos who happens to be the Fashion Market Editor for Latina Magazine! I was thrilled to be there and so happy to have met such passionate, intelligent, and successful women! Make sure to pick up the latest issue of Latina magazine which features each of the ten Latinas or you can head on over to Latina to see more. Congratulations to each and every one of the Next Generation Latinas and may you all continue to be an inspiration to all of us! Good luck!

This Sunday I headed on over to Central Park to enjoy the spring-like weather we are having in NYC! It was absolutely heavenly out and as usual my jaunt in the park turned into an impromtu mini photoshoot. As all of you are probably aware of by now, I am a HUGE fan of GoJane! Almost every one of my posts features an item from their online store! They have incredibly awesome pieces at such affordable prices! The newest addition to my GoJane fall boot collection are these lace up rust colored chunky heel booties I'm wearing sent over by the lovely folks over at GoJane! I was so excited to wear these and they are the perfect fall boot for every girl who wants to rock a comfortable heel this season! They can be worn so many different ways and are so easy to style. You can wear them with slouchy pants, jeans, or even with a cute skirt and a pair of knee highs! GoJane is my go-to place for all my fall essentials! Hope you enjoyed the photos!
